Looking to the future is how the Scottish Darts Association describes the announcement of the next element in the complicated jigsaw that hopefully will see the SDA emerge from the ravages of the Covid pandemic.
The SDA Men's and Ladies Singles Tour will include four events and a finals day which will offer a total of £11,000 prizemoney to all competitors.
Confirmation of dates and venues for the opening two events means that the cream of Scottish darts talent will be heading to Glenrothes on Saturday 5th March Players to register at 11.00 am for noon start followed by a trip to Bannockburn on Sunday 3rd July.
Each event is worth a total of £2000 with an extra £3000 set aside for the finals day.
This leaves the two final events which could be held in your area if possible. Anyone who thinks they could host an event should contact General Secretary Cliff Murray at the SDA for further details. The basic cost of holding an event is £500 plus £10 per dartboard used, nominally eight boards. In order to ensure the future of International darts for the SDA it is imperative that all the darts membership throughout Scotland get behind the Association as it moves forward and if your Area could be a host organisation this would go a long way towards that goal.
The SDA has now managed to get the new and rejuvenated Darts Corner Inter-County Championship up and running, the introduction of the Darts Tour is a welcome addition to the calendar, the Mega Weekend originally set for April 22nd/24th, has now been moved to October and replaced by the Scottish Open at the Normandy, and an 18-30 Youth Tour is imminent and currently, the SDA is working hard on an Individual membership scheme.
All these innovations could help to get the SDA back into its usual role of providing opportunities for Scottish darts players to compete at all levels. The response from the Area organisations has never been more important, basically, all dart players must do their part in ensuring the survival of the SDA and keeping the saltire flying at events all around the world.

Darts Corner SDA County Darts Championship – 20th November 2021
After the opening two weekends in the Darts Corner SDA County Darts Championship its all too familiar in the North Section as Grampian top all three leagues.
They lead the Men’s league by 5 points with Fife second on 17 and Angus in third spot with 10.
Grampian’s 11 points is four ahead of both Angus and Fife in the Ladies league.
This guarantees Grampian the lead in the Overall Table with 33 points ahead of Fife in second with 24 and third placed Angus on 17.
In the South Section its much more open with East Stirlingshire out in front with 11 points in the Mens Section but Greater Glasgow just behind on 10 points with that match still to finish.
Renfrewshire control the Ladies Section with 7 points leaving Ayrshire and Greater Glasgow both on 3 points, but again there is an unfinished match.
The Overall Table looks like it could go to the wire, even at this early stage as the top three teams are only separated by one point. Greater Glasgow lead on 13 points just one ahead of both East Stirlingshire and Renfrewshire.
Scotland North - Fife v Highland 14-10 (10-6, 4-4)
Fife played their second match in this year’s County Championship with a home tie against Highland, who were making their first appearance, and took a hard won 14-10 victory.
Fife Men took their match 10-6 whilst the Ladies match was a 4-4 tie.
The home side took the top individual average in the Mens match as Jamie Clark hit a three dart average of 95.43 to win 4-0. Courtney McBain had the best Ladies average when she took her match 3-0 in 55.47 for Highland.
Highland’s top male player was Alex Morrison (82.36) while Andrea Carr was Fife’s top female player with 51.18.
James Fraser notched a 160 checkout for Highland equalling Rab Shaw’s figure from the previous month’s fixtures.
Scotland North - Tay Valley v Grampian 5-19 (3-13, 2-6)
Tay Valley hosted defending champions Grampian in their first fixture of the season but it was the visiting side who left triumphant. The Mens match went convincingly 13-3 to Grampian and their Ladies team followed suit with a 6-2 victory.
Scott Robertson from Grampian recorded the top average of the weekend in Scotland with a 96.97 three dart total in his 4-0 win. International player Emily Davidson from Grampian was the top Lady player with an average of 59.33.
Tay Valley’s top performances came from Glen Parsons (79.81) and Chantelle Jolly (46.89).
Grampian’s Scott Campbell was on target in his match with three maximums in a 4-2 win, equalling Fife’s Jamie Clark’s triple last month.
Scotland South – Greater Glasgow v Ayrshire 13-5 (10-2, 3-3)
This match was not finished due to circumstances at the home venue and will be completed during the return fixture in 2022.
Greater Glasgow took a commanding 10-2 lead in the Mens match while the Ladies competition is all square at 3-3.
The standings for top average are currently led by Glasgow’s Neil Campbell (81.62) and Ayrshire’s Lorraine Hyde (63.21) and her average will stand as the best of the weekend if not bettered.
Ayrshire men’s top player was David Kiltie (62.48) and Greater Glasgow’s top lady player was Laura Grant (49.35)
Scotland South – Renfrewshire v East Stirlingshire 12-12 (5-11, 7-1)
This will go down as the very first tied match in the brand new Darts Corner Scottish Counties Championship with both sides having convincing wins in one match each.
The Mens glory went to East Stirlingshire with an 11-5 win while the home side Ladies team lost only one set in their 7-1 victory.
William Stallard took the top set award for the visitors with a three dart average of 85.89 and Jordan McNally’s 56.36 was the best Lady’s set from Renfrewshire.
Renfrewshire’s top set in the Mens match went to Stephen Gormley (79.90) and Lainy Lewis took the best set for East Stirlingshire with 35.54.

Darts Corner SDA County Darts Championship – 30th October 2021
The Darts Corner Scottish County Championship finally got underway this week with two matches played in the North section. The Highland v Perthshire game was canceled as the visiting side has withdrawn from the league.
This marks the start of a new era in Scottish county darts as the SDA will now officiate over their own county championship following the demise of the BDO.
It was victory for both teams playing at home as Angus inflicted a 17-7 defeat on league newcomers Moray, while former BDO champions, Grampian, defeated Fife 14-10.
Grampian v Fife 14-10 (9-7, 5-3)
This was a very close fought affair with not much between the teams until the final few matches of the day.
The Mens team ran out 9-7 winners with a player of the match performance from Fife’s Jamie Clark who’s 90.70 three dart average included three maximums. The top player for visitors Grampian was Scott Robertson with an average of 88.41, including two maximums.
The Ladies match also went to Grampian taking the match 5-3 and also the top player award with Emily Davidson averaging 67.30 in her 3-0 victory. Fife’s best lady player was Steph Gilmour averaging 47.67.
Angus v Moray 17-7 (10-6, 7-1)
Angus started the season with a bang and go top of both the ladies and men’s sections, albeit after just one match.
The mens match saw Moray enter the fray for the first time at this level and showed signs of future success however it was the home side that took the match 10-6.
Alan Soutar had the top average in the match which was actually the weekend’s best set with an average of 96.51, with two maximums and checkouts of 105 and 102.
Moray’s first player of the match was former International player Craig Quinn who’s 4-2 win averaged 87.06 and he also hit a maximum and a 138 checkout.
In the ladies match Moray’s Gill Sharp recorded an excellent 60.12 and a 180 for the player of the match award although her side went 7-1 down.
Chloe O’Brien was the best for Angus with a 3-0 victory and a 54.33 average.
The top finish of the weekend went to Fife’s Rab Shaw with 160 closely followed by a 152 from Grampian’s Scott Campbell and a 150 from his team-mate Matthew Goldie.
There were 28 maximums in total and 18 ton-plus checkouts and Grampian have set the target to aim for with a total of 149 ton-plus scores.

RIP Danny Cunningham
On behalf of the Scottish darts Association, we would like to send our condolences to the family of former Scotland International and Team Captain, Danny Cunningham who sadly passed away on Thursday.
Danny played 66 times for Scotland, winning thirty-seven of these matches, Danny also represented Scotland at World and Europe Cups.

RIP Colin McClements
Today Scotland has received the sad news that our friend and colleague Colin McClements has passed away. Colin was a truly lovely person, he was an integral and irreplaceable part of Scottish Darts, one of the unsung heroes of our Association, who behind the scenes set up the venues with our small group, was available for all the jobs that needed to be done during the duration of the events.
All this apart Willie, John, myself, and the other officials had so much fun and banter with Colin in the days of event preparation and shared lots of evenings together at the bar after the day's work had finished, sharing darts and family stories, just so much fun.
And on behalf of Scottish Darts, we would like to send our condolences to the family of Colin McClements.

Tri Nations British Open-Classic 2021

The Scottish Darts Association are delighted to be involved with the return of the British Open and British Classic darts tournament to Bridlington in 2021. The three-day event organised by Tri-Nations Darts will be held at Bridlington Spa from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 October 2021.
The tournaments have been recognised by the World Darts Federation; the British Open will be a Gold Event with prize money of at least EUR17,000 and the Winner, Runner Up and Semi-Finalists will be awarded an automatic place in the WDF World Masters and the Winner being awarded a place in the WDF World Championships.
The British Classic will be a Silver event with prize money of at least EUR7,000 and the Winner and Runner Up will be awarded places in the WDF World Masters, and ranking points will be awarded to all events in the usual manner.
